Located in the heart of Villa Borghese, the Casa del Cinema stands as a landmark for Roman film culture. The façade maintenance project was designed primarily to preserve the aesthetic integrity of the building, countering the effects of time and exposure to atmospheric agents.
The building is located in a protected area under Legislative Decree 42/2004 – the Code of Cultural Heritage and Landscape. Therefore, every intervention was carried out in full compliance with conservation regulations, ensuring the preservation of the site’s historical and landscape identity.
The degradation analysis revealed chromatic alterations due to pollution and humidity, surface deposits from dust and urban combustion, as well as cracks and material loss in certain areas. To ensure a targeted intervention, a detailed mapping of the deterioration was conducted, identifying areas requiring cleaning, chromatic restoration, and structural consolidation.
The project involved the controlled removal of surface deposits, the treatment of color alterations with specialized products, and the repair of cracks using restoration techniques compatible with the original materials. Every operation was carried out with respect for the architectural identity of the building, ensuring maximum durability and seamless integration with the historical and landscape context of Villa Borghese.
